Binalyto Data Services Pvt. Ltd. ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Classity mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting the privacy of students, parents, teachers, and school administrators who use our App.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard user information when you use Classity. It has been created to comply with privacy regulations including COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act), FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), GDPR, and the store policies of both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
1. Our Role as a Service Provider / Processor
For educational institutions, Classity operates primarily as a service provider/data processor. The school or school district ("Educational Institution") maintains ownership and control over all student personal data. We process student data solely on behalf of and under the direction of the Educational Institution for legitimate educational purposes.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect information that is necessary to fulfill educational management functions and deliver app services.
A. Information Provided Directly by Schools, Teachers, or Parents
- Student Data: Student full name, student ID, grade/class level, attendance records, academic performance/grades, timetable, and emergency contact details.
- Parent/Guardian Data: Parent full name, email address, phone number, and relationship to student.
- Staff/Teacher Data: Name, school-issued email address, role, and assigned classes.
B. Information Collected Automatically (Device & App Usage)
- Device Identifiers: Device model, operating system version, and unique app instance identifiers (used exclusively for security and session management).
- Log & Technical Data: App crash reports, system performance metrics, diagnostic logs, and feature interaction data.
C. Information We DO NOT Collect
- We do not collect precise GPS location data.
- We do not track users across third-party websites or apps.
- We do not collect advertising identifiers (e.g., AAID or IDFA).
- We do not access user contact lists, photos, or biometric data.
3. How We Use Information
We process personal data strictly to operate and improve school management features. Specifically, data is used to:
- Provide core functionality (e.g., attendance tracking, gradebooks, assignment delivery, fee notifications).
- Authenticate user credentials and ensure appropriate access permissions.
- Deliver critical operational push notifications (e.g., school closures, attendance alerts).
- Maintain app security, prevent unauthorized access, and debug technical errors.
We never sell, rent, or trade student personal data, nor do we use student information for targeted advertising or commercial profiling.
4. Children’s Privacy (COPPA & Google Play Families Policy)
Because our App is designed for K-12 school communities, child privacy protection is integrated into our service:
- Consent: Consent for collecting student data is provided by the contracting School or District acting on behalf of parents under COPPA/FERPA, or obtained directly from parents/guardians where required.
- No Ads or Cross-App Tracking: The App contains no third-party advertising, commercial software development kits (SDKs), or tracking modules.
- Policy Compliance: All third-party services (e.g., cloud hosting) comply strictly with Apple Kids Category guidelines and Google Play Families Policies.
5. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We disclose personal information only in the following scenarios:
- With Your Educational Institution: Student records and progress are visible to authorized teachers, administrators, and linked parents/guardians.
- Authorized Service Providers: We utilize vetted cloud infrastructure providers (e.g., AWS, Firebase, Google Cloud) solely for secure hosting, database storage, and push notification delivery. These providers are bound by strict data processing agreements.
- Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required to do so by applicable law, court order, or governmental subpoena.
6. Data Security
We employ administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to safeguard student data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration:
- Encryption in Transit: All communications between the app and servers use TLS 1.3/HTTPS encryption.
- Encryption at Rest: Sensitive database records and files are encrypted using AES-256 encryption.
- Access Restrictions: Access to backend data is strictly governed by role-based access controls and principle of least privilege.
7. Data Retention & Account Deletion Rights
We retain student data only for as long as active services are rendered to the Educational Institution or as required by school retention policies.
How to Request Account or Data Deletion:
- In-App Deletion: Navigate to
Settings > Account > Delete Account within the app.
- Web Portal Deletion Request: Visit our dedicated web form at https://binalyto.com/contact-us/.
- School Administrative Request: School administrators may request full school data purges by contacting our privacy team.
Upon receiving a deletion request, associated personal data will be purged from our active databases within 30 days, subject to legally required retention limits.
8. Your Rights & Access
Parents, legal guardians, and eligible students have the right to review, request corrections to, or request deletion of student personal information stored in our platform. These rights may be exercised directly through your school administration or by contacting us.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If material changes occur, we will notify users via in-app alerts or direct email notifications prior to the changes taking effect.
